In December, 5 children from our football program were selected for sponsorship. We built a strategy to deploy funds and held our annual meeting with parents to discuss the progress of their children’s schooling and the sponsorship criteria. An MOU was signed with BACOP to facilitate education scholarships.
In January, we deployed funds for classrooms, and contracts were established between BACOP and the parents of the children. Scholarships were awarded to primary school children, with special cases for secondary school students. We announced an increase in the scholarship cost due to inflation and promoted gender equality by ensuring both boys and girls were sponsored. Late in the month, we selected 5 kids, created their passport photos and stories, measured uniforms, and paid for uniforms, books, and meals. The list of sponsored kids was increased to 17, with plans to support a disabled child, Pius, continuing his education.
In February, we finalized the deployment of funds, totaling $7,487.70 AUD. A workshop focusing on Football for Quality Education, Gender Equality, Social Inclusion, and community development was conducted. By mid-month, $5,136.09 USD was received, and sponsored kids began their schooling sessions covering various education and health topics.
By May, funds amounting to $7,551.82 USD were deployed. The sponsored children participated in and won the U10, U13, and U15 regional championships, showcasing their talents and hard work.
In December, we implemented an attendance register at school and focused on children receiving moral support from their parents, emphasizing the importance of education.
The new year began with crucial meetings discussing the selection of children joining secondary school within our program. Towards the end of the month, we organized a Water Park activity day for the sponsored children to enjoy.
In March, we followed up on the primary school children’s performance, monitoring their attendance, classwork, and meals. Two children, Nanyonjo Hirat and Batti Alex, were registered for final primary exams based on their performance. Visits were made to collect videos documenting the school experiences of three other children.
In April, we suggested a 7-day holiday training camp to teach girls how to make reusable sanitary pads, which would include writing thank-you letters to the School of Hope. By the end of the month, the first term was ending, and we prepared a school holiday program to include essential activities like making reusable sanitary pads and first aid training.
Funds amounting to $7,551.82 USD were received in May, supporting our ongoing educational programs and activities.
Throughout December, James volunteered at a community clinic, conducted football training sessions to improve kids’ physical and mental health, and built a sustainable energy-saving stove for the community.
In February, a workshop on Football for Quality Education, Gender Equality, Social Inclusion, and community development was conducted, emphasizing the importance of these values. Later in the month, we received $5,136.09 USD. Sponsored kids began attending school and participated in sessions on education values, sports values for girls, general life skills, HIV/AIDS, and menstruation hygiene tips for girls aged 12 and above.
In April, the planned holiday program aimed to include first aid training if resources allowed, ensuring comprehensive health education for the children.
December saw the annual meeting with parents alongside signing an MOU with BACOP for education scholarships, strengthening our community relationships.
In January, a new sustainable stove was built, which marked a step forward in our community development initiatives. Additionally, $2,795 USD was received for the water pack planning, beginning the selection process for 5 kids and holding meetings with beneficiaries.
February was active with comprehensive plans to cover SDGs on health, education values, and social inclusion. We clarified the school terms for 2024, creating a clear roadmap for the year ahead.
Towards the end of February, three girls—Rashida Nanyonda, Sandra Namukosi, and Nassazi Gratitude—awaited passport photos and short stories, with all reports included for completeness.
In April, we prepared for the end of the first school term and organized the holiday program, focusing on making reusable sanitary pads and first aid training. We also worked on updating the BACOP website and requested the School of Hope logo to add as our partner.
